Thurnis Haley Presents: Tyler, The Creator’s “Goblin” Promo Video

Tyler, The Creator‘s one of many alter egos, Thurnis Haley, talks about himself and his great passion for golfing in a promo video for Tyler’s upcoming album, Goblin. Thurnis is fifty years old and.. yeah, he “eats golf, sleeps golf”. The promo video, for as short as it is, is pretty humorous, well produced, and has that kind of Adult Swim Tim n Eric sort of feel. The short commercial came out yesterday, but in case you haven’t seen it, get prepared to hit the replay button plenty of times for Thurnis’ hysterical laugh. Props to the subliminal messages in the video too. Goblin comes out May 5th, but you can already pre-order a copy on both iTunes and Amazon. Enjoy:

Tyler the Creator: “Yonkers”

So, some of you may not be aware of this, but last Friday Tyler the Creator, a.k.a. Ace Creator, a.k.a. Wolf Haley dropped the first single from his eagerly anticipated album “Goblin”. Two words: GOT DAMN! I mean, this kid is sort of a faux black ghetto version of Leonardo Da Vinci (in the sense that he is multitalented). Maybe that’s going a bit far, but I was thoroughly impressed with this new single. If you haven’t seen/heard it (or even if you have) check it out, it’s pretty lethal:

Let me point out that this was produced and directed by Tyler. He shows his lyrical creativity throughout the song, with allusions to his previous album “Bastard” (when he refers Syd to his therapist), as well as to the children’s show “Rugrats” and to the Virgin Tech shootings, to name a few.

The video is shot well too. It’s quite simplistic while still keeping Tyler’s edginess too it, and it’s of a higher caliber than the other Odd Future music videos.

Speaking of being in the spot light, Odd Future is scheduled to make an appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon in the next couple of days. I don’t know what to really expect from this, but The Roots are playing too so it’s almost a guarantee that it’ll be a quality show.

As always, FREE EARL.
